Spelling - what resources/ scheme

Discussion in 'Primary' started by sandsplace, Apr 3, 2011.

  1. What spelling resources/ scheme etc does your school use. Any you'd recommend?

When I had to produce weekly spellings for a Year 5 class recently (just one term as it was a maternity cover temporary position) I went first to the Support for Spelling publication to check what needed to be covered for that term:
    http://nationalstrategies.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/node/183127
I then created my own lists (3 levels of ability) and used the Scholastic Spelling book as a supplement:
    http://shop.scholastic.co.uk/products/23060
(This is the year 5 book - they are available for all years.)
It took a little while to produce what I needed doing it this way, but I didn't find anything that was ready-made that suited.
