Specialist Teacher

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by kritur, Nov 9, 2011.

  1. Yes as first and foremost your contract is as a teacher. The alternative is generally being made redundant so I would go with teaching the other subjects! The only grey area would be if someone else, not employed as a specialist were teaching your specialism and you were teaching significant hours outside of specialism although I suspect that there is nothing to stop this that is actually enforceable.

Agree with above. You are employed as a teacher. I work in a middle school and currently teach 6 different subjects. Most people teach at least two subjects in my school if not more, although admitedly only to KS2 and 3.
