Special schools and PRUs and ICT

Discussion in 'Special educational needs' started by jillyjsm, Jul 1, 2011.

  1. As a teacher of ICT I have been asked to deliver a persentation on the importance of using computer technology to support pupils with very low academic abilities and challenging behaviour issues. I have mentioned motor skills, helps with hand-eye co-ordination and that skills learned are transferred across subject areas, preferred way of learning by most pupils regardless of ability.
I wondered if anyone has specific details/ideas on this area of teaching?
    Many thanks.

  2. I would off the top of my head say that using ICT is a big motivator with my SEN children. They will engage in simple tasks e.g. phonics activties much more readily if its done on a computer.
I can recommend www.helpkidzlearn.com as a great website that I use alot with my lower SEN.
