SOW for induction?

    It depends upon how the school organises itself-how big are the departments/structures, numbers of teachers etc. The history is also a factor particularly if there has been staff turnover. Planning is one of the key areas encountered by NQTs in some places these have already been produced or are in the process of revision- otherwise it is part of the role of teaching but you should get support from your mentor to help with what is required.

  4. Unfortunately there is no 'standard practice' as such. To meet induction standards you need to demonstrate a wide variety of duties, skills, knowledge and understanding of the day to day job of teaching. In real life this will include producing schemes of work.

    If this is a task then I would expect there to be guidance from the subject leader about what is expected and not just a generic - produce a SOW for X.

    There is no reaosn why it cannot be a task for a NQT (with help and guidance).

  5. We have gone over to the Creative Curriculum this. It is a two form entry and we have split the writing of the new medium term plans between us. To be honest it wouldn't have occured to me that we wouldn't as I see it as just part of the teaching role. I would think it would be a little disappointing not to get to to do as it's such a valuable skill to learn. It also gives such a nice feeling of ownership. Although next year we may do similar things I will write a new medium plan based on the feedback from this year etc.
