I would talk to the doc about how you feel.
My OH has been to the docs a few times and talked about the stress he is under (at work and at home - familly illness etc). The doc has said he will sign him off but OH hasn't yet taken him up on that, of course. However, he now has an deal with the doc that all he has to do is call or leave a note at the surgery and he'll be signed off.
Nothing needs to actually happen as a result of your chat with the GP about how you feel, but you have good reasons to be stressed and in the long term its good that your doc is aware of that.
    Good luck!
