Songs for Year 1

Discussion in 'Primary' started by stalemate, Sep 7, 2006.

  1. My Yr 1s love songs - I mean - they can go quiet in an instant. Just belt out We are going to tidy up, tidy up etc to the tune of mary had a little lamb and they are anybody's!
Only thing is that my song bank is rather limited. I am currently singing a few french songs (which they love!) and some that the Reception teacher has passed on.

Just wondering if any of you out there have any inspriational songs/poems etc.

  3. Can't think of any inspirational songs but these are the ones I sang with my lot (and sing in the shower - brilliantly I might add)

Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose..

    I'm a little teapot..

I went to the animal fair.. (this was a favourite with my yr 1s)

The Barney song - also in Spanish:

    I Love you.
    You love me.
    We're a happy family.
With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you,
Won't you say you love me too.

    Me amo.
    Te amas.
    Somos son un gran familia.
Con abrazo si y besos para ti.
    Quime quime quieres tu ami.

    Do your ears hang low..

    Head, shoulders, knees and toes..

    Dingle Dangle Scarecrow...

Five currant buns.. (this was great when acted out - although when the person with the penny buys a currant bun, the poor currant bun tended to get hoisted up and dragged painfully across the carpet)

    Five little speckled frogs..

  4. These are great - could you tell me where I can get the words for Dingle Dangle scarecrow, I went to the animal fair and little peter rabbit...? I haven't heard these before

    Thanks so much!

  5. I went to the animal fair (theres music on this link, but the lyrics are different on it than what I know)

    http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/lyrics/animalfair.htm

I went to the Animal Fair
The birds and the beasts were there
The big baboon by the light of the moon
    Was combing his auburn hair

The monkey fell out of his bunk
And slid down the elephants trunk
The elephant sneezed and fell on his knees
And what became of the monkey monkey monkey monkey monkey......

Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose
(apparently the tune is 'Battle Hymn of the Republic')

Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose
Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose
Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose
And he flipped it and he flopped it and the fly flew away

    Floppy ears and curly whiskers
    Floppy ears and curly whiskers
    Floppy ears and curly whiskers
And he flipped it and he flopped it and the fly flew away

    Dingle Dangle Scarecrow

the music is on this link - thr tweenies actually sing it for you :) http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/tweenies/songtime/songs/d/dingledangle.shtml

When all the cows were sleeping
And the sun had gone to bed
    Up jumped the scarecrow
And this is what he said!
    I'm a dingle, dangle scarecrow
    With a flippy floppy hat
I can shake my hands like this
And shake my feet like that
When all the hens were roosting
And the moon behind the cloud
    Up jumped the scarecrow
    And shouted very loud
    I'm a dingle, dangle scarecrow
    With a flippy floppy hat
I can shake my hands like this
And shake my feet like that
When the dogs were in the kennels
And the doves were in the loft
    Up jumped the scarecrow
    And whispered very soft
    I'm a dingle, dangle scarecrow
    With a flippy floppy hat
I can shake my hands like this
And shake my feet like that
    I'm a dingle, dangle scarecrow
    With a flippy floppy hat
I can shake my hands like this
And shake my feet like that

  8. I have made a powerpoint of the kids favourites to use on our interactive whiteboard.
If you would like a copy let me know. I can't help you with music as we have someone who plays the guitar for us when we have a singalong, but the words are there.

www.singalongwithme.com has a few good songs for this age group.

My own site (www.communication.co.uk) has singalong videos to download free : Old McDonald, Grand Old Duke of York, The Music Man and the Balamory Theme. (this is not a plug - honest! Just thought the songs fit in with your age group)

  13. Hi bevevans

Just wondering how you get the music for the sing along with me website? Have tried but failed. What am I doing wrong?! Thanks
