I have to do a values assembly for parents and the theme is LOVE. I'd like the kids to sing a simple and easy to learn song, but I'm finding it hard to find good ideas. Has anyone got any suggestions? Someone has already recommended the Beatles.

Down in the meadow where the green grass grows
There sits Jayden washing his clothes
He sings, he sings , he sings so sweet,
He calls to Evie playing down the street
Evie Evie wont you come to tea
Come next Sunday at half past three
Jelly and ice cream you will see
And there will be lots for you and me.

Then Evie has a turn washing her clothes and calls to a boy etc etc

Its about friendship and caring for your friends, doing nice things for them.

I know the tune, but you can make up your own.

Not sure if these are any good or you could adapt them as they are just about Mummy as we did them for Mothers Day tea party.

Mummy takes good care of me,
Care of me, care of me,
Mummy takes good care of me,
    Because she loves me so.

I love mummy, I love mummy, …...…..you could perhaps adapt this to friends maybe
Yes, I do yes, I do
    Mummies are for hugging
    Mummies are for kissing
I love you yes, I do!

"Mummy Is the One I Love"
(To the tune of "Mary Had A Little Lamb")
Mummy is the one I love, one I love, the one I love.
Mummy is the one I love and
    She loves great big hugs.

I like to use Nancy Music's website for music you might find something there, usually they have a backing track and vocal track, all free. https://nancymusic.com/SOM-alpha.htm
