Software or apps to create e-books

    Can anyone recommend any packages or apps to make e-books? Preferably free....

    I’m working on the assumption you’re talking about ePub files here.

    One of the most well used in the open source community is Sigil, which is also free. It’s a WYSIWYG but it’s advantage if you know basic HTML and CSS.

    You can also create a Word document and convert it to an ePub using this:

    Libreoffice Writer has the ability to export as an ePub.

    Or if you’re feeling exotic you can use LaTeX or Markdown to create the content in a markup language and then convert using Pandoc.

    Depends how many you need - you can get up to 40 free books online with Book Creator

    We have used ISSUU to turn PDFs into digital page turning books. Just create something in PowerPoint, save as a PDF and then upload. Like most platforms, it free - they just put a watermark on the file
