So what ARE you having for Christmas Dinner?

    I picked up the turkey yesterday. It's just the two of us here so we keep things simple.
    Roast turkey
    Mash for Mr BS
    Roasts for me
    Peas & carrots
    Pigs in blankets
    Ooooooooodles of gravy

    All to be followed with Christmas Bombe - Baked Alaska made with panettone & Christmas pud ice cream.

    Devilled Eggs

    Main:
    Chicken (Capon)
    Stuffing (No sausagemeat)
    Gravy
    Bread Sauce
    Cranberry Preserve
    Mash
    Roasties
    Honey-roast veg mix (butternut squash; onions;carrots;sweet potato)
    Sprouts
    Parsnips
    Yorkshire Pudding

    Dessert:
    Frozen Banana; Peaches; Cream

    Coffee, Marzipan and Mince Pies for those who can manage it....probably for later when vegging in front of the TV

    cranberry sauce
    Dessert:
    Cheeseboard Armagnac or Calvados

    Topside of beef
    Roast chicken with lemon and thyme
    roasties
    roast parsnips
    sprouts
    pigs in blankets
    sausagemeat stuffing
    bread sauce
    Bread and butter style pudding made with panettone and orange zest + cream

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........

    Homemade Cranberry Sauce

    Main: Slow roast leg of lamb
    Roast potatoes
    Sausages in bacon
    Red cabbage
    Maple roast parsnips
    Gingerbread stuffing
    Sprouts with gruyere and bacon
    Broccoli in cheese sauce
    Peas

    Pudding: Christmas pudding + one or all of the following(!) - brandy butter, baileys cream, clotted cream, brandy butter icecream
    Cheese + crackers

    With only 2 of us I may have gone overboard - oh well! [​IMG]

  15. Gosh thinking about all the calories is going to make me come out in a cold sweat but here goes:
    Starter: Figs and parma ham with optional mozzarella
    Main: Turkey or pork
    devils on horseback
    pigs in blankets
    maple syrup roasted parsnips
    carrots
    red cabbage
    sprouts
    roast potatoes
    stuffing
    yorkshire pudding
    cranberry/apple sauce
    gravy
    Pudding: Heston's orange in the middle xmas pud with cream

    To conclude: large pack of rennies!

    Roast duck, cranberry stuffing balls, carrots, stir fried red cabbage, honeyed parsnips and cranberry gravy - just wondering whether to do gluten free Yorkshires

    Christmas pudding and custard

    Completely dreading having to cook that lot at MIL's, and facing the washing up afterwards. There will be no help. MIL too poorly, Yorkshire men exactly that-as bone idle as they come! And then SIL, who's a complete control freak will be totally obnoxious when she takes over at supper time!

    I hope this is good. According to my Hairdresser there was a run on these and they have been on sale on e-bay for stupid money. Just off to investigate the truth of this.......
     
  18. Yes when I was in Waitrose the other week a customer was asking for one and the baker just laughed. he said they had got up to &pound;300 on ebay! If only I'd known I would have put ours on!

    Roast turkey, creamed swede, leeks, roast parsnip, roast squash, red cabbage, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots, sprouts, pigs in blanket, stuffing, onion sauce, bread sauce, gravy.
    Then a snooze followed by Christmas pudding and cream.
    All accompanied by bucks fizz/ champagne/ rose wine.

    forgot the brocolli and dauphinois potatoes!
    It's useful haveing a son who was a chef - all those veg magically appeared, most of them sorted whilst we were at church yesterday evening!
