I’m speechless. May must be desperate for votes for her deal. One of the most self serving politicians. It stinks.

No serving politician should be eligible for a knighthood. Ditto sportspeople.

Did Doctor Shipman get a gong for services to the NHS?

Maybe all knighthoods should be posthumous. That would sort out the sheep from the wolves!

You can judge a Prime Minister by their opinion of John Redwood. Major called him a b.astard. May gives him knighthood. Says it all.

Compare the nobility, depth of principle and achievements of the following:
Michael Rosen, Danny Boyle, Michael Faraday, J.B Priestly, Amartya Sen, Stephen Hawking, Ken Loach, C.S Lewis, Virginia Woolf, Jon Snow, L.S Lowry Dorothy Hodgkin, Benjamin Zephaniah
    with "Sir John Redwood".
    Notice anything?

It's exactly the kind of 'honour' that the system is all about. Sadly. Demeans and cheapens all deserved honours.

Sir Cyril Smith, Sir Fred Goodwin, Sir Robert Mugabe, Sir Anthony Blunt, Sir Philip Green, Sir Nicolae Ceaucescu, Sir Jimmy Savile,Sir Benito Mussolini, Sir James Cosby (former CE of HBOS), Dame Jean Else (the academy head banned from running schools), Sir Alan Davies (the academy head done for fraud), "Sir John Redwood".

    Notice anything?

(Just to balance up your list, you understand ;))

Might explain why the 'meaningful' vote was postponed until mid-January. Wait 'til the bribes gongs have been dished out.:)

One vote will not be enough.

Given the type of snake Redwood is he would take the gong and still stab her in the back.

The former politely refused their honours, despite being deserving of them. Redwood gets his despite being undeserving, though I accept florian has provided a list of even-less-deserving than the slimy snake Redwood.

I suspect Redwood isn't the only one of her potential opponents to have benefited. It isn't just about knighthoods.

It would need a massive change. Currently all knighthoods end when the person dies (hence why Jimmy Saville couldn’t be stripped of his knighthood).

People should not be gaining honours for just doing their job, be it in politics or broader public life. In my opinion the only qualification for being on the honours list should be to have done something well above and beyond - exceptional charity work or heroic actions, as in the case of the cave rescuers who have been recognised.
Politicians, senior civil servants and celebrities all have enough clout, wealth and standing; they should not be offered gongs as an endorsement of this fact.

And we should exclude all academics, writers, artists and performers too.

Indeed. They have enough renown through their own endeavours. They don't need further fawning over.
