Single sex or mixed - primary

Discussion in 'Physical education' started by rodaso, Jun 26, 2015.

  1. When grouping children for sports day, for one class per yr primary schools, do you think it is better to group children in races by ability or gender? Do you think it is discouraging for a girl to maybe only come second in a mixed gender race, when she could have come first in a single sex race? Or does it serve to highlight differences in ability, especially weaker ones, esp if a class is boy/girl heavy, making it more difficult to make races more even once separated into gender? I can't decide which is the better option!
