I've been offered a job in Kenya which I'm really excited about but wanted some advice before I accept.

Anyone currently teaching in Kenya or recently come back? What advice do you have (especially in regards to relocating there with a child - 6yrs old)?

What is a good monthly salary? It's quite hard to work out of what I've been offered is going to be enough for me and my daughter to live comfortably.

It was some years ago that Mrs Hippo and I were in Kenya, but I would say that hiring a maid or cook will be cheap, but a car will be a major expense. Second hand cars tend to be more expensive than in the UK and Kenyan roads will push up your bills for car repairs and petrol. Driving in Nairobi is not for the faint-hearted.
