I say no. I cannot see why that general principle should apply.

Now I am well aware that there are miscreants; but there are at least as many non miscreants.

It's only a few hours a day, and possibly allowed out at lunch.

But is it important to contain them everyday, nevertheless?

190 days. Trips, fieldwork, Leisure Centres, pitches, Swimming Pools.

    You didn't do a poll!

No. Containment is not the purpose of school.

Yes. You are being literal, rather than considerate.

Your premise is wrong, then? Since you refuse to define and delineate I have to take you literally.

You have identified that the premise is not literally true. A spoiling tactic, if not accompanied by some discussion.

Do you really mean, "why should children go to schools for Education"?

If I phrase the question "should teenagers attend school every day?" your answer would be...?

Sort of. I regret using "be contained in" as contain has negative connotations. So I am asking should teenagers go to school every day? ("every" is an important word here...)

Yes, pretty well as they do today. Maybe start at five, as I did without benefit of reading or counting much.

Five is a bit early in the day! :)

The thread is about teenagers BTW. What do you think would be the drawbacks from not attending school all week?

What would you have them do, Eureka?

That is not the issue of this thread! I am wanting to know how important it is to have teenagers go to school every day. And if so why.

Teenagers usually have the weekends off unless they attend a fee paying "Public School". One reason for attending school from Monday to Friday is prepare young people for the world of work where attending on a regular basis is considered important. There is an implicit assumption that the youngsters will find employment.

    Any answers to this?

So now can you be specific about what you think children should do at school? Or if they are not at school, where they will be and where it will happen. Bearing in mind that very few are self motivated flower children intent on self improvement.
