how long does shortlisting take for a job? What is the longest time you should wait before you know you won't be invited for interview? 4weeks?? Thank you

Two weeks after closing date, I would say.
That's how long our HT takes, and I have never known anyone take that long before.

Sorry, but I would think after 4 week,s the job's probably gone!
  4. I guess I am still waiting for my interview letters (from job app's 20 weeks ago). I guess they must have been misplaced somewhere? I wish.
  5. There are always exceptions, but longer than 4 weeks would be surprising...

Frustrating having to wait, isn't it?
Would be good if schools managed to contact all the applicants and tell them whether or not they had been shortlisted, but those days are past, to be honest.
Two weeks after closing would be stretching it; by 10 days you can give up hope, I'm afraid.
Do make sure that you are reading - and following - the advice in the shortlisting clickables,to get the best possible chance of success.
    Best wishes!
