Greetings. I have just been offered a Physics post in the above state in the UAE. Package OK and a shared car.

Having been to Dubai many times in the past does any one have any experience of Sharjah itself which is not a millions miles away.

Thanks for any advice or comments,

We lived there but worked in Dubai as rents were much cheaper in Sharjah. Not as glamorous as Dubai (if that's your thing) but it worked for us as a family.
It is dry and pork not available but membership of The Wanderers club sorted that problem!

Traffic is a nightmare! It is definitely not Dubai!

Tica has it about right. The ruler of Sharjah married one of the many daughters of the old King of Saudi Arabia and as a result it is stricter than any of the other Emirates.

Sharjah and Dubai - where does the one end and the other begin? The general consensus seems to be that Sharjah is a bit quieter, more reserved and perhaps not as much fun as Dubai. But Dubai is just down the road and maybe families might prefer Sharjah.

Sharjah is cheaper but has great beaches and malls to get what you need, go to Dubai if you want nightlife and more choice. Have you checked the school out on International Schools Review/Community sites?
