    The Daily Mail comment you are playing semantics. Commenting on/publishing is the same thing in this context. They would only usually quote the ones that have a more right wing/religious/middle England view to them.

    As for Atheism. You are wrong. Not trying to be rude but you are just wrong. A religion is not the same thing as a belief system.

    Religions usually have two main aspects to them.
    1. They are organized and have rules.
    2. They believe in some form of god/gods/spiritual beings.
    Neither of those things can be attributed to atheism. It's like the saying goes "If atheism is a religion then not playing tennis is a sport."
    The only reason atheists have to say they don't believe in god is because there are people out there who claim there is one.
