Serif Suite Discontinued - HELP!

Discussion in 'Computing and ICT' started by wkaloumenos, Mar 21, 2018.

We have used Serif Suite quite extensively over the years to deliver the CiDA qualification as well as some units at KS5. With Serif now being discontinued we need to find a similar suite or products that are relatively easy for students to use/get to grips with.

    Does anyone have any recommendations?

I need a minimum of Graphics Package and Web Design Application that work well together.

    Expensive option - Adobe suite
Cheap option - GiMP, Jsbin.com (for online editing) or Froala WYSIWYG editor.

Are you still receiving technical support, it would appear that we aren't any longer and both Drawplus and Webplus have become very laggy on our network?

Ours is the latest version and works fine. Not sure about technical support however but it works fine.

What about open source software? Scribus for DTP tasks and BlueGriffon for a WYSIWYG website editor? No cost and no licensing issues.

Paint.Net and Microsoft Expression Web - both are free and Expression Web supports HTML5 and some CSS3 and also allows you to view the code (probably the most important thing in learning to develop web-pages).

Serif products were amazing and good value too I agree. They've now moved on to developing the Affinity range of products and versions are also available for the Apple IPad but as many above have already stated there exists a wealth of high quality open source free alternatives.
