    Hi all,

I am Head of Science in a large comprehensive and am starting to think about the 280 Year 7 students arriving in September. Up to now, I have received an average of students’ KS2 literacy and numeracy levels as a starting point for Science. However as we know, the primary schools are no longer be reporting KS2 levels. English and Maths departments will receive a standardised score from the SATS tests, plus teacher assessments. However Science will receive teacher assessments only, and it’s likely that every primary school will be using a different tracking system.

So what are other heads of Science doing for tracking and target setting? Are you planning to baseline them at the start of Y7? Or are you fully embracing assessment without levels?

    Any advice appreciated!
