I don't imagine they will be using that video any more, it will just cause ridicule.

The Youtube video of her telling people to stay at home has been pulled.

The damage that she has done, of course, is not so much whether she has put herself or her family at risk, or others with whom she has contact, but those thousands of others who will believe that if she can break the rules, so can they.

I have never before seen such a painful public apology.

    It won't be the first.

I'm just taking my mind off things by watching 1975's t v drama 'Survivors'.

It seems going to the country is a good strategy.

"The legal instructions on not leaving your home without a reasonable excuse apply to everyone," he said.
It's an interesting one that. You only have to have an excuse for leaving. You don't have to have an excuse for being out.

Is this really working to take you mind off things?

It is incredibly damaging because the message coming across from the Chief Medical officer is that "I don't believe the official advice given will be effective and wouldn't bother following it myself".

As an adviser to the Scottish Government she has now lost all credibility.

It's very informative and the two leads are female. It's actually a very good drama. I do like a tenacious woman.

Nicola Sturgeon has announced that Dr Calderwood will still advise her but she will no longer attend daily coronavirus media briefings.

    Sidelined but not sacked.

My dad loved Survivors back in the 1970s.

Just seems a strange choice to."take your mind off things"

Reminds me of the scene in Airplane where the in flight movie is a plane crash disaster film.

It's a wonder she didn't argue that she was following her own instructions to stay at home by moving (twice) during the lockdown between her first home in Edinburgh and her second home in Fife. Wouldn't have gone down well, I suppose, with most Scots, who are housed more modestly.

Coronavirus: Scotland's chief medical officer resigns over lockdown trips
She said she had done so after speaking again to the first minister, and had agreed with her that the "justifiable focus" on her actions risked distracting from the pandemic response.
