There are currently two petitions running to get the government to:

    1. Scrap plans to force state schools to become academies. (currently 83,906 signatures)
    2. Hold a public inquiry and a referendum over turning all schools into academies. (currently 91,229 signatures)
Links to both petitions are on the saveourshools.co.uk website and are being promoted on Twitter using #saveourschools. These two petitions are the most popular petitions on the government website. They are both awaiting responses from government and at 100,000 signatures, the petitions will be considered for debate in Parliament.

They may not be debated in parliament. It may all be a waste of time. But it only takes a minute to sign the petitions and spread the word on social networks. Help stop the privatisation of education. If this was happening to the NHS we'd all be in the streets protesting....

Find it incredible that the issues raised by these petitions are not on the front pages of our national newspapers. Yes,disability allowance cuts, the sugar tax and Brexit are hot news stories but parents need to be made aware and before it is too late, of what is happening and what will be happening in our schools. The state education system is being dismantled and handed over to private companies. The teacher recruitment crisis and the rise and rise of the academisation of our schools is leading to more and more classes being taught by under qualified `teachers`, some subjects are being put to the sword and a new type ,two tier system of education is emerging.Do we as a nation care so very little for what is happening in our schools.?
