Save Hull Music Service

  1. Please sign our petition. The local council are considering withdrawing vital funding which allows the Albemarle Music Centre to run and offer ensembles to young people in our area.
    Thanks for your support

I used to work for the 'Music Support Service' as it was then known, at the 'old' Albemarle, but now work and live in Spain.
Presumably increased costs to schools could mean not only the bands/groups/gamelan etc at the Albemarle going but loss of peris full stop if the schools won't/can't pay the difference?
One arguement for keeping the funding may be as a counter-balance for those schools who are opting out of class music, particularly at KS4? If the Albemarle could perhaps offer GCSE/B Tec or whatever (along the lines of the old Saturday morning theory classes with George Turner at Park Street!) it might stenghten the case for keeping it all going, by filling the void made by recent NC changes. Just a thought - or maybe you do this already.
Wouldn't closure also affect Hull Truck?
Will sign the form and good luck with it all.
