Anyone else had their contract? £89 seems very low for the training day or have I mis-remembered?

New to SATS marking... would notification/communication be sent via personal email or through the examining body’s portal?

Both, ie an email to tell you to log in.

I've had mine too and, yes, £89 is a drop from last year! I think it was about £125 last year for the training day. The marking rate also seems a lot lower. Welcome to Capita!

I thought so, it said it includes 12.5% holiday pay which means it's £80 for training. I assume that includes standardisation as well. It's not looking like a very tempting offer is it.

Hi, I’ve applied for the first time this year. I received an email - please see attachment but haven’t heard anything yet?

They may be just recruiting from the existing pool first, then open up to new markers. They'll be in touch.

My partner and I applied this year but haven't heard anything back from them at all, not even a confirmation that we HAD applied. Is anyone else in a similar position? We were probably one of the first people to apply in November - pity if neither of us got a chance.

Never mind, we've got our login now and can go into the portal which is good - fingers crossed for a contract now!

Can I ask whether you have previously marked the tests or are new this year? I registered my interest but haven't hear back yet. Thanks

I've turned mine down. It was becoming less and less attractive for the same amount of work. I'm not greedy but I'm not going to do the same amount of work for less.

    Have you heard anything yet?

  14. Hi all, I also applied for the first time this year. I had an offer of employment around mid-feb. I was shocked that the training was only £89 and the suggested earnings £756 meaning £801 in total as from everything I had heard it was a lot more than that in previous years. It does state however that this is dependent on speed, meeting deadlines etc - so maybe you could get more? I am marking maths.
The training day is 16th May. First deadline 18th May then another on 20th.
Does anyone know where the training is held as I couldn't see that in my letter?
    Thanks

Training is normally regionalised, so will be a big city near you usually. As marking is being run by Capita this year, deadlines have changed, but should be manageable. You will be learning less of the mark scheme this year, so practice and qualification for marking should be quicker.

I was notified yesterday that all spaces for markers were now filled but was offered a role as a senior marker for reading.

Does anyone else think it's likely to be cancelled this year? Mid May is likely to be peak epidemic, locking us in darkened rooms in small groups for training seems like a risk.

Not sure the marker training will be the issue. More like the students not being in school!

I can see them being cancelled and a rethink taking place. After all the Tories have already started adopting the Labour polices. i.e. the Budget
