In February 2014, Senate Republicans blocked legislation that would have expanded federal healthcare and education programmes for veterans, saying the $24bn bill would break the budget.

The bill called for 27 new medical facilities to help a healthcare system strained by veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

You could not make it up.

    "They come back hardened"
Do people going to war expect to return unchanged by the experience? Or with a desire just hang about kissing fluffy bunnies?

Unusual name, Track Palin, isn't it? Do you think it might it have something to do with where he was conceived?

It's amazing the Republicans have the image of being the 'pro-military' party.

They are pro the arms manufacturers... they aren't interested in the troops. Virtually the whole US congress, both parties, is in debt in some form to the arms industry.

I know this woman would be a joke were she not so dangerous, but blaming her son assaulting his girlfriend on Obama (especially given the information in the article regarding Republican senators blocking funding for veterans) is astonishing.

It's beyond hypocrisy: it's wilful distortion of the facts.

(Or perhaps not wilful, knowing Palin's previous on 'understanding' the facts.)

    Edited for sp.

A current news story is about how only 3 members of Congress have children in the military (only about 1%), so why would they 'care' about the soldiers themselves...?

Michael Moore once did try to get a few more to volunteer but the parents seemed resistant. Odd that.

This headline says it all, me thinks:

    Sorry, Donald. That's totally unfair.
