I have just bought three beautiful xmas cactuses for £1 each in Waitrose because today was their sell by date. Have you found anything cheap and cheerful in the sales?

Cheap is relative - but it's certainly cheerful! I got 70% off.

Two new school skirts for my daughter in New Look. I was going to start unpicking the one I made but didn't fit tomorrow but now I don't need to as these fit perfectly. The bonus is that they were only 3 pounds each.

I'm not a savvy sales shopper. It's like parking spaces! I am not one of those who can find a parking space in a crowded car park, unless it's about a mile from where I want to be. It's the same with sales- the clothes look like tat by the time I get to them. I looked online for children's clothes and Next had precisely five baby boy outfits in the sale. All were rank!

I never win raffles or anything else either - sob!

Last year's Christmas cactus bloomed a few weeks ago and has buds again!

Gap had some delightful things for baby boys in their sale. Try there, foxtail.

I've just ordered a blouse from M+S as it will look good for work-my twilight career!! Also some black undies as I refuse to buy ton of white knicks as they go grey after 2 washes!! Black might lose a bit of colour but they usually stay looking good. :D

I actually need to rein myself in @Lascarina! That boy has more clothes than me! I have knitted loads for him too. The trouble with little ones is that they wear things for such a short time. I just stop!

M&S drawers are the work of the devil because they have that barbed wire elastic round the waist for the mortification of the flesh.

Edit - that was to Dragonlady.

Unpicking is still a time-honoured pastime for those idle minutes in front of the television.

They have invented new ones which are shiny - a bit like swimsuit material - and no barbed wire.
Of course they charge as if they were made of silk and cashmere.
