salary in norway

Discussion in 'Teaching abroad' started by johnsimps, Feb 3, 2011.

  1. You would be able to afford your own little flat but you would have to live like a student in Norway. 400,000NOK approx 40,000GBP is not enough - as ridiculous at it sounds. Cost of most things are unbelievably high with only some exceptions like electronic goods. Rent, groceries and motoring are the most crippling on the budget. Income tax is 40%. Do lots and lots of research before you go.

Nobody lives like a student in Norway - not even the students. Norwegians have an incredibly high standard of living. Yes things are expensive especially alcohol but it is worth it to live in a beautiful, safe country. Tax is not a flat 40% but has a complex allowances system and self- assessments are filled in every year.
You make no mention of the salary you have been offered or where the school is. If it is the one 2 hours south of Oslo go for it - you'll ove it.
