Anyone know of a decent vocab book for my GCSE students? Taken them over this September and regretfully abandanoing them after Christmas as I have a better job elsewhere. Would like to let them have a decent chance of self sutdy if the school can't be bothered to replace me.

  3. If you go onto the Edexcel (Russian GCSE) website there is a list of all the key vocabulary that they need to know for the exam. This could be printed off and put into a file for each of them?? Which area are you in by the way? I'm currently doing my PGCE and one of the languages i offer is Russian. Just thinking about jobs for next year!

  4. Hi Rex
I have a vocab booklet based on the one in the spec. I'll send you a copy if you like.

    Thanks
I already know about that but I don't have the time to chop it up into bite size chunks by topic and theme.
Just when I did my O level many years ago had a nice book but a GCSE book of a similar style is hard to find and worst of all doesn't seem to exist unless anyone knows any different.

Forgot to say. I work at Walkden in salford and if you can help cover the russian class after Christmas/New Year, get in touch with them.
Unfortunately only private schools appear to be doing Russian around here in the Manchester area. Walkden is discontinuing Russian afte this year. Far-sighted and visionary or what?

  7. I reckon it's all about results. Russian is seen as 'too hard.' So far my results are OK so Russian is safe at my school but if, God forbid, we don't get the results I'll have a fight on my hands.
I was also told a while ago that I should learn Spanish because 'nobody is interested in German' (my other specialism).
The far-sightedness and vision clearly isn't confined to my place of work!

  8. Hi. Could you please send this booklet to me.

Thanks in advance Moscow Nights Rex
