Routes into Classics Teaching

Discussion in 'Classics' started by jodief, Mar 14, 2011.

  1. Hello, I'm looking to going into teaching 2012/13 or the following year and I would love to teach Classics. I have an A Level and a Degree in Classics and graduated in 2006 from Warwick, since when I have been a trainer for a sales company.
Can anyone recommend a route into teaching Classics? Is it best to do a specific Classics PGCE or can I do a history degree and with my A level Greek and Latin and Degree, move into Classics? I am happy to do a History PGCE but Ancient History is where my heart really lies!

How easy is it to get on to a Classics PGCE course? I've been looking and it only seems to be offered by King's College London and Cambridge. I have 16 years' teaching experience, but still didn't manage to succeed!
