Roughly, how much do you get paid as an examiner?

Discussion in 'Personal' started by dianaprince, Apr 9, 2009.

  1. I know it depends on allocation etc, but I have said yes at £3.70 a script for GCSE marking.
Anyone give me a ballpark figure for the 3 weeks work?
  2. As a normal examiner for AQA GCSE English, I used to get around £1200 after tax. Now I'm a senior examiner I earn almost double - so if it goes well for you this year it's worth sticking with it to see if they promote you!

About a £1000 for basic contract with bonuses ie finishing on time, etc.

Then extra if you want to mark extra papers.
  4. Woop woop!
  5. How do you go about being a marker anyway; do you apply or wait for them to get in touch with teachers in different areas ???
  6. I applied online last summer and they contacted me. Most exam boards have a link to application forms.
  7. thanks DP might give it a go next time, probably to late for this year.
  8. I would say apply now, or at least look at websites. Some subjects are still looking for examiners.
  9. Your right, I will have a look and apply see what happens. Could do with the extra cash. Cheers dianaprince.
