Today I had to move two of my BTEC drama lessons out of the theatre (one of two designated drama spaces) and into a regular classroom because another subject just decided that they could use the theatre for there Yr 8 class to do their presentations. I couldn't use the hall (the other drama space)because of exams and a PE lesson. What really annoyed me was the fact that I was not asked if this would be OK.The other teacher (who is a dept head) just went ahead and organised the change without asking if I would mind, or if it would even be possible. Does anyone else have to put up with being shoved around to accomodate the whims of other staff? Am I being unreasonable by asking that I am allowed to use an appropriate room when teaching a practical BTEC lesson? Is it ridiculous that I would like to be asked to swap rooms rather than just being informed by the assistant head's PA? Your thoughts please fellow drama teachers.
