Very sad to hear that he passed away today, after a short illness.
Oh that's a shame... a good life mind you...
Just a Minute use to be a great listen [haven't tuned in for a while]
A great man and entertainer.
I used to love him leading the show the sale of the Century and the famous slogan "come o down the price is right!"
I also remember him on tv as the straight man to Auther Haines, a comedian.
I gather he did a lot of work for charities.
May god grant his soul peace
I have very fond memories of him. He was a comfort food type entertainer if you get what I mean.
I still can’t hear the word Norwich without mentally linking it to Sale of The Century .
This is how I will remember him:
Er… you're not getting him confused with Lesley Crowther who hosted 'The Price is Right' gameshow are you? In this show people were called down out of the audience with that catchphrase whereas in Sale of the Century the constants were already sat on the stage at a desk thingy with their names on.
And rather athletic legs they are too! They fill those stockings very nicely!
First time I was aware of him was in a Doctor Who episode back in the 1980s during the Sylvester McCoy era. He played a Vicar and... I think there were sea monsters...
His performance must have been good because I still remember it.
The voice of Tex Tucker
Was he really? I didn't know that!

Just watching a BBC4 prog about his passion for clocks. "I might be in my 90s but..."
Blimey looks pretty damn great!
Edit: and just like his Dad!
DoY his engineering apprenticeship would be right up your alley.
Radio 4 at 6:30 had a nice version of a Just a Minute to honour him.
Hell's teeth. My stony icy heart clucking melted. Find it on catch up and sobalong to BBC4 clock thing they put on because he died.
Sounds interesting Aquamarina - I'll try remember to look for that later...want to listen to JaM first.
This is going to sound a stupid thing to say but he never really sounded that old - still youthful in voice - and appearance. Always so gracious when other panellists were gently ribbing him but perfectly capable of getting his own back when he desired. He'll be missed on R4...
Another childhood memory gone.
Nah, your memories are still there.
You are correct, Forgive my ageing memory.
