Returning to teaching- work shadowing

I'm seriously contemplating returning to primary teaching. I passed my pre-reg year then quit. This was 15 years ago. I think I chronically lacked self-confidence back then. I see Edinburgh now does a return to teaching online course but I want to get some classroom time before I make the financial commitment of the course.

How much time should I request to work-shadow in a particular school(s)? I want to see as much as I can/ask lots of questions without out-staying my welcome.

If you already have your qualification you should be able to return through the flexible route probation scheme. Contact GTCS for info on that.

You may have to return on supply but I know someone who is currently doing it having first qualified in 1995.
