After a year of not teaching full time - a bit of supply and several months in a care home, Im debating returning to teaching.

Problem is, I have 9 yrs experience including deputy hod and acting hod. I don't want to return to a middle management role, just to teach.

Has anyone had any experience of this?

Lots of people do it. Just start applying, a year out is nothing.

Yup. Took a year out which I fondly called a sabbatical and went back as a plain subject teacher having previously been barely-teaching SLT. In interview, your year gave you an opportunity to reflect on what you enjoy most about being a teacher and your choice of post application is an indication of your conclusion :D
