I have a reasonably generous whole-school TLR, which I loathe. I want to give it up, and given the recruitment crisis I can't imagine they'd be inclined to insist I resign my entire post, as I'm well-regarded as a teacher, with excellent results. What kind of impact might this have on my reference prospects etc? Would you think giving up a TLR because I dislike it and it makes me stressed and anxious would "mark my card" with the bosses? Would it mean future promotion opportunities might not happen? I just want to excel in my subject, and any future responsibility I take on I want to be strictly related to my curriculum area.
