resignation query

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by dew_a_change, May 28, 2012.

  1. Hi,

Can anyone confirm whether 31st May is the deadline for handing in your resignation if you do not wish to return in september?
Also anyone know how to go about writing a resignation letter?

    Thanks

    Yup
As for resignation letters, I quite liked Middlemarch's sample from a few years ago:

  4. Thanks!

If you're not going straight into a new job and things are not that great, would anyone recommend leaving it short and sweet?

Always best to leave as a graceful party I think, that way you close the door but don't completely bolt it :)

Sound advice. The temptation to tell them just what you think should be resisted. It will bite you on the bum later!

Agree that avoiding sour grapes is always best, but certainly no reason for you to do anything other than the standard key details without any additional note.

  8. thanks

what about at least mentioning what the reason for leaving is briefly but still keeping the letter formal and polite?

Not if the reason is a negative one. There is nothing to be gained.
