Reporting to parents end of nursery

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by apple888pie, May 24, 2009.

  1. Has anyone any idea what the procedure is for reporting back to parents (end of nursery) - do we just state they are at point 1, 2 or 3 of the EYFSP will general comments for the 6 areas? Thanks
  2. We do several thing to report to parents: each child has their own file with observations and photos, updated on an ongoing/ as and when basis - parents have access to it when ever they wish but mostly look it at parent interviews each term, we have a sheet for each area with the statements from the EYFS development matters, we highlight the statements which the child is secure in each term, and we write 3 or 4 sentences each term which sum up the child - most recent developments/ next steps . At the end of the nursery write a slightly longer statement (5-7 sentences) and the head writes a statement - an A4 sheet with 4 boxes - 1). the school letterhead, 2). teachers comments, 3), head teachers comments and 4). parents comments.
The parents know exactly at what level the child is form the highlighted sheets (7 in all 2 for CLL) and also knows what the school see as the most important next steps for the child from the teacher statement.
We do not mention the EYFS profile scale until the end of reception.

  3. Could you please let me have a blank template, they sound fab, we run a playgroup and feel that these are simple enough, yet effective.
