    When or do you use 'U'? Does this have an affect on the school?

    Hello @headbeck. This is a general help forum - for example if you are having problems using the site.

    Try posting in Secondary or Primary (depending on the age group you teach) or even Headteachers and you might get some responses. :)

    It makes the SLT in charge of attendance sad.

    You use U when a student arrives after the registers close - for example, in my school, that's post-9am. It does have an impact on punctuality figures, and can be used as evidence by a Borough that parents are not fulfilling their legal duty in getting their children to school on time.

    Don't worry.

    A U often changes to some other, more acceptable letter, over time.
