Now that a date has been set for the EU referendum, I thought it might be interesting to have a poll in which posters can say whether they will vote for In or Out at this stage, but to be able to change their vote on here if the debates that lead up to the referendum alter their opinion.

Let's see how closely TES posters form a snapshot of the electorate as a whole in their views..

I'm voting for Britain to leave the EU because I don't want to be one of those people who will live with regret in five years time when the goalposts have become cricket stumps.

    Funny.

I'm an EU citizen who has lived in the UK since 1983.

@Duke of York :your poll is clearly missing a "not allowed a vote" category.

I see. In that case it is reasonable to exclude you from the referendum.

Sorry about that, catmum. Don't worry, the poll won't change anything. Just vote as you would wish to if you were allowed to in real life.

This forum software is amazing. At the time of posting, I see this thread has 8 views, but appears to have attracted 14 votes. How do they work that out then?

I am already fed up to the back teeth with Cameron's posturing.

His problem is not with the EU - it is with his own party.

I trust that whatever else happens, it will tear itself apart and become the nastiest footnote in British history since the restoration of the monarchy.

It's interesting to see that so far, with 64.7% saying they'll vote to remain and only 23.5% voting to exit, the interminable threads that have plagued the forum for years, stating the case for UKIP, appear to have had little influence and now seem to have been all rather pointless.

Still it's early days. Maybe when the night shift arrives, the situation will change.

    I'll vote to stay in.

Too many imponderables / loose ends / unforeseen potential consequences involved if we leave.

Perhaps it shows that there's more to UKIP than just the in/out issue.

Yes, and still does. Someone ought to be blaming a teacher or two.

    Absolutely, your Grace.

    It's always the teachers' fault.

I would vote to come out if it were a referendum on my country's membership of the UK.
