Redundancy

  1. Our school is going through the process of staff reduction and today quite a few of us were told that our hours will be cut, ie we will be made redundant from 31 Aug and re-employed on Sept 1st on a contract with less hours. I am a bit miffed at this obviously, and as I like to be in control of my decisions and not have them thrust upon me, I was thinking maybe, forget about the redundancy and voluntarily reduce from full-time to 0.8. Would there be any advantages/disadvantages of doing this? Would be interested in hearing your views.
