Aged 57 with 30 years of service in FE.
Department in decline, so I know there will be major changes.
Waiting for SMT to make an announcement.....
Should I take ARB and take a reduced pension now or be made redundant or elect to take voluntary redundancy, then wait 3 years for my pension.
Which is the better financial deal? I can't see the way forwards.

Is it possible to agree early retirement but with an enhanced package? It used to happen - my Dad retired in his mid fifties with a full pension as they wanted rid of expensive teachers (LMS had just come in). I'd ask the union for advice.

  3. Your union will have a specialist pensions advisor. For NASUWT it's Wesleyan Assurance. They are salaried and often exceptionally helpful. Get professional advice on your best options
