I have an interview next week in reception (30 mins). It can be either maths or literacy. Im going to do a literacy lesson just really stuck on ideas of what to teach. I dont know if they should be on the carpet for the whole 30 mins and what can make it super engaging and interactive.

Hi there. When I did my interview for literacy I had the whole class on the carpet for only 10 minutes while I retold a story using props. Then I had prepared some provision challenges for the children to complete as they choose. My first thought for any interview is not what should I do, but what do I want the children to learn.

Look at ELGs for ideas of what to teach.
Then decide how to teach it.
No, they should NOT be on the carpet for more than 5-10 mins, if at all.
