    Dearest colleagues

Our school currently uses the NGRT reading age tests from GL Assessment (we've previously used the NFER tests). We're finding that there's a real gulf between the KS2, KS3 and KS4 tests - e.g. students who score 11+ on the KS2, score 8.03 on the KS3; students who score 14.06 on the KS3 score 10.02 on KS4 tests...

Can anyone recommend other holistic reading age tests? Ones that test comprehension and inference skills, as well as decoding, tracking and vocabulary knowledge?

    Many thanks

This was my response when a similar request about secondary school reading age tests was made a month ago in the TES secondary forum:

When my secondary school last wanted Reading Ages (RAs), which was years ago, the test our special educational needs department deployed was the Suffolk Reading Scale, which is in multiple choice format. It's still available: https://www.gl-assessment.co.uk/products/suffolk-reading-scale-srs/.

However, Standardised Scores (SS) have tended to eclipse RAs in terms of acceptability to bodies granting access arrangements. I see that the Suffolk does provide SS as well as RAs. So does the Edinburgh Reading Test (https://www.hoddereducation.co.uk/EdinburghReadingTests), which my school has used more recently.
