Qualifications question

Discussion in 'Further Education' started by lovelyliz, Apr 5, 2012.

  1. I started teaching French for Business and evening classes in FE and passed City & Guilds 730 FE Teachers Certificate in 1986. After a break to bring up children I did a PGCE with Primary French Specialism and taught Primary from 2004 to present. I am thinking of going back to FE and need to know whether the PGCE and FE qualification I have is enough. Any advice/opinions please?
    Thanks

Having a PGCE will allow you to work in FE. It may be primary specialised, but the fact that you previously worked within FE will help you.
People gain jobs in FE with just a very basic teaching qualification such as PTLLS. Look up FE jobs and look at the person specification to get a better idea. www.fejobs.co.uk might be a place to check what institutions are looking for.
