QTS Certificate Attestation (Bahrain)

I have applied for a music specialist position in Bahrain. I have a physical copy of my music degree certificate and an electronic copy of my QTS and Induction certificate. I'm in an unusual situation where I don't have a physical copy of my PGCE certificate and I'm currently unable to obtain one due to the current lockdown.

I have been in contact with the company that will attest my qualifications who confirmed that they would be able to attest the electronic copy of my QTS certificate and the university where I studied for my PGCE are able to provide electronic copies of transcripts and verify these to third parties.

I'm wondering if this was enough to obtain a visa without the PGCE certificate?

Depends on which school you have applied for. Hope you’ve done research!

As in search the forum and International School Review to make sure you haven’t signed a contract with the dodgy ones- there are many!

And consider changing your name and photo- never wise to have your full details on here or any social media platform.

'I'm wondering if this was enough to obtain a visa without the PGCE certificate?'

It should be but check with the HR department of the school which, if its the 'saintly school', is excellent!!

Thank you. I have been in contact with the school as well as the agency to ask this specific question so just waiting to hear back from them. Goodness knows what I'll do if they definitely need to see the PGCE certificate as well!

There are plenty of dodgy schools in the ME, but the saintly one in Bahrain has a good reputation.

When you say dodgy, what issues could you come across?

OP - please get your name and photo changed - it has taken me literally 30 seconds to find out who you are and where you're based using only a Google search. The reason you should do this is because schools can and do browse these forums and can take exception to people posting on here.

In terms of 'dodgy' you only have to do a quick search of the forums to find out. Not honouring contracts, turning up in country to find the job no longer exists, not being paid on time, not being paid at all, withholding passports and / or permission to leave the country, the list goes on.

Is being visible in a Google search a bad thing? Strikes me that if you use your web presence constructively then this might present you with an advantage?

Also do you have any evidence to support the statement about schools taking exception? A few people seem to flag this up on this forum but I have never seen anyone point to anything where it has been someone's downfall. I wonder if it's more of a myth rather than a fact?

    Please listen to amysdad.

You should be able to get a PGCE cert and transcript from your uni. Most have an online shop where you can order reprints.

I'm afraid that's part of the issue as they're not able to print off certificates due to the current lockdown. They're only able to send an electronic copy of a transcript.

Additionally, I have changed my information but I'm assuming it's taking time for it to take effect?

You can still get the document attested if it is sent by email. Speak to different solicitors. They just email the university to confirm

They're only able to send me an electronic copy of the PGCE transcript.
They're unable to send me a PGCE certificate in any form.
Would an electronic QTS certificate be enough along with the electronic PGCE transcript?

    I'm not sure.

I would email the school and explain the whole situation. Tell them that due to coronavirus you can only get a transcript.

Maybe it would be a good idea to cc the pgce admin member to confirm you completed the pgce with them.

In itself not necessarily, but my point is that if someone as technologically illiterate as me can do it then it's going to be really, really easy for someone who is an IT specialist to dig further!

There are two main forums where international teachers gather - here, and on the site that reviews international schools. Certainly, on the other site, there are people who identify themselves as senior management and they admit to have scanned both that site and this to establish whether they can identify a candidate. It might not happen often, but do you want to take that chance?

Point 1 - if I know I have a positive digital footprint then I would want someone to dig further on me, I would like to think that schools are recruiting from a positive pool of talent, no-one is going to discover an OnlyFans page about me because I don't have one. Why do you seem to assume that people must have a negative preseence online outside of this forum?

Point 2 - let's assume there are senior management trawling this forum, I don't think thre are but let's run with it. What's the problem with using your real name? Can you point me to any thread ever where this has been an issue? If you are nothing but professional and positive (as you would expect from a teacher) then why would management hold that against you, indeed if you are professional and positive then this forum is just another medium for you to leave a positive digital footprint. Surely that would be welcomed, would it not?

'why would management hold that against you' -

Because not all managers/leaders/senior staff are as professional and positive as you muddyfox and not all international teachers are what they say they are?

To paraphrase Voltaire - Everything is not always for the best in this best of all possible worlds!
