ok, so here is a link to the paper:
http://store.aqa.org.uk/qual/gce/pdf/AQA-MS-SS1B-W-QP-JUN11.PDF
Without looking at the markscheme,
What is the standard deviation (Question 1b) for 2 marks.

If you're a student, tell us what YOU think it is.
If you're a teacher, erm, you should know this already.
cyolba, not falling for that one again

Are you sure you're talking about the right question here?
I get 4.217052218 if you use sigma (which strictly you shouldn't as it is a sample)
or 4.242079454if you use s

both of these agree with the mark scheme.
3.54 is way off.
Bric.
ps. I used the stats functions of a casio 85 calculator.

yeah I sat down and did it myself just now, and got the right answer.
input error somewhere, don't know why four people made the same mistake?
oh well, sorry to waste your time. I'm relieved, I even went back and checked the scores of last years class on ERA and they all got it right. Which confused me even more!
