I am a NQT teaching at the same school I did my school direct placement at.

I have decided for various reasons that I would like to apply for a job in a new school.

What is the procedure for informing my current school about this and what sort of reception am I likely to get?

You go to see the head and tell her/him that you have decided to apply for other posts. You ask her/him politely if you may name her/him as a referee.

No idea what sort of reception you'll get as we don't know the head or you and your work. But teachers come and teachers go and heads are generally quite used to it.
