Problem solving activities

  1. Hi,

I used the Tower of Hanoi in my year 4 mixed ability class today and looked at simple patterns. Has anyone used this with a year 3 class? Need to do a 20min problem solving activity.

Hi 3131, I haven't used this with y3 but I agree it is an excellent way to develop systematic recording and collaborative learning.
What about predicting how many moves it would take, then seeing how many they could do it in with 1,2,3,4 cylinders etc? I doubt whether even G+T y3 are going to spot the general rule but they might be able to predict what would happen with 4 after doing 1, 2 and 3.
