probability of success on the waiting list

Discussion in 'Trainee and student teachers' started by flash26, Mar 6, 2011.

  1. Hey,

I am on the waiting list to do primary at york and was wondering if anyone knew how likely it is that people on the waiting list get on to the course this year?
  2. It depends on how high up you are on the waiting list. Normally several people fail to take up their places, such as not getting the required degree class, failing to pass GCSEs, failing CRB or health screening, or just a change of mind. I'd say the chances are quite good, but this year everything is different with very late allocations of places and cut in funding, so it will be very difficult to tell.

On the bright side if you are on the waiting listat York St John you will have a guaranteed place for 2012 at the latest.

Keep faith!! I was on the waiting list for one and got a call a few weeks later to ask if I wanted the place. By then I had accepted a place elsewhere!!
    Good luck!

This was the rule last year, but it may have changed - I would e-mail and ask if I were you.
  6. There is no official rule on an automatic place if on a waiting list this year, but many places will see you as a preferred applicant if you passed the selection this year. You may have to make a fresh application however, so do contact the college and find out.
