Primary to secondary

Discussion in 'Secondary' started by boperella, Jun 25, 2011.

  1. Hiya.

I'm primary trained and on m4 from september. I'm considering teaching secondary geography (I have a bsc in marine geography) and always loved it up to a level. What are the chances of this happening and does anyone know what I would have to do to go about this?

    Thanks

You can apply for jobs in secondary now, as your PGCE (or other qualification for teaching) will enable you to teach in any phase.
But be aware that there are many, many more secondary trained geographers than there are jobs, so you've got to persuade a headteacher that you'd be better - and you'd probably be more expensive than an NQT.
