Primary MFL - expectations by end of KS2?

  1. Does anyone know what level primary pupils should be attaining by the end of KS2 for MFL.
    Is it Level 3 or 4?

    There is no statutory goal re. National Curriculum levels for KS2 - if only because languages are only statutory at KS3 and consequently the NC levels only officially apply to KS3.


    ... Having said that, a couple of years ago Ofsted said that the majority of KS2 pupils should be able to reach level 4 by the end of KS2.


    ... Having said that, surely it has to depend on many things - especially the pupils' potential and how much lesson time they have at KS2. At the end of the day, what matters most - at any key stage - is whether each learner is being challenged enough.

    DfE says level 4, most people say that being realistic level 3.
