Prayers for early Years

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by lots-of-shoes, Sep 4, 2011.

  1. Hi everyone,

I am going to be teaching reception class and was wondering if anyone had any nice little prayers for the morning and afternoon. Alot I've looked at seem quite long and hard to learn.

Also does anyone have any recommendations of any good / fun / happy action hymns/songs on cd?
    Many thanks

    Hi lots-of-shoes
    Before lunch we say:
For sausages, baked beans and chips
For ice cream filled with chocolate chips
For paper full of fish and chips
    Thank you God
    Amen.
It's much more fun and far more meaningful than many of the traditional ones I know.

  4. Heres one for the end of the day:

We fold our hands and softly say
Thank you for our lovely day (or you can change this line to: Thankyou God for school today)

    Amen

We use to do this one :
    Bless this bunch
    As they munch their lunch
    Amen

  6. Thank you for the world so sweet
Thank you for the food we eat
Thank you for the birds that sing
    Thank you God for everythig
    Amen

    God Our Father
    I come to say
Thank you for your love today
    Thank you for my family
And all the friends you give to me
Guard me in the dark of night
    And in the morning
    Send your light
    Amen

    Songs:
All god's creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they've got now

    (Bill Staines)
One more step along the world I go,
One more step along the world I go.
From the old things to the new
Keep me travelling along with you.

    Chorus
And it's from the old I travel to the new,
Keep me travelling along with you.

Round the corners of the world I turn,
More and more about the world I learn.
All the new things that I see
You'll be looking at along with me.

    Chorus

As I travel through the bad and good
Keep me travelling the way I should.
Where I see no way to go
You'll be telling me the way, I know.

    Chorus

Give me courage when the world is rough,
Keep me loving though the world is tough.
Leap and sing in all I do,
Keep me travelling along with you.

    Chorus

You are older than the world can be,
You are younger than the life in me.
    Ever old and ever new,
Keep me travelling along with you.

    Chorus

  7. Thank you all, they're all fab!!!!
I will enjoy using them with my new little ones [IMG]
It's so nice to get a different approach and make things fun and memorable.

  8. In my nursery that I work at , children sing this song before they begin to eat.

Thank you for the world so sweet,
Thank you for the food we eat.
Thank you for the birds that sing,
    Thank you God for everything.

    :)

  9. This verse always makes me misty eyed during assemblies!! (old and sentimental!)
